Volk’s Electric Railway
Ride along Brighton's Seafront on our 135-year-old electric railway, the oldest electric railway in the world still operating. Volk's Electric Railway is the oldest continuously running, electric railway in the World.
Situated in the seaside town of Brighton, the Railway was constructed by inventor and son of a clockmaker, Magnus Volk, and first opened to the public in 1883. The route runs for one mile along Brighton seafront, with three stations where passengers can alight. Trains run frequently from March to October and for special events throughout the rest of the year.
Please note: The Volk’s Electric Railway is now closed for the 2022 Season and will be re-opening in Easter 2023!
